Conwell was a minister & the founder of Temple University. His lecture "Acres of Diamonds" was delivered personally over 6,000 times & earned over $4,000,000. (About $145,000,000 in current dollars.) With this he financed the college education of many poor & worthy high school graduates, never forgetting what a hard time he had in putting himself through college. Conwell lived a selfless life, & died "in harness" at age 82. He lived many lives in one, because he literally worked sixteen hours a day, seven days a week. he believed that each of us is placed here on Earth for one main purpose--to help others. He inspired thousands of people & two generations of Americans, many of whom became successes
