Long ago a carefree grasshopper shared a corner of the Emperor's courtyard with a family of hardworking ants. While the grasshopper danced and sang for the royal household all summer, the ants gathered grain for the winter. They urged their friend to prepare for the coming cold, but the grasshopper was too busy playing to work. How could he know that the Emperor and his court would soon leave their summer quarters--and him--for the Forbidden City?
