Pros: It's a light read for a rainy day.

Cons: It's boring and formulaic, the main character falls flat.

Bottom Line: If you need something light to pass the time, then try and find a discount copy of this. Otherwise, spend your money on something else.

Pros: Characterization (main characters), good mystery, well-written, interesting story, solid plot (good throughout).

Cons: Characterization (most are ciphers), some of the political comments might be a little off-putting

Bottom Line: A very good mystery, good characterization of the main characters, good story (and plot), and a good introduction to a series.

Pros: great character in Deborah Knott; solid intro to the series

Cons: plot is a little obvious; a few slow spots

Bottom Line: Read this one and you’ll want the rest in the series ASAP. Deborah Knott is a compelling character and you will want to know what goes on in her world.

Pros: Good descriptions of life in farming country of North Carolina.

Cons: I think the author is a Democrat. But that's not too bad.
