Bottom Line: Even if you hated this book in high school, give it another chance. It is truly an amazing story that will make you smile at the end.

Pros: Interesting Plot, funny at times, moderately short, better toward the end

Cons: Extremely descriptive

Bottom Line: Silas Marner's a classic. I'm not rating it based on that distinction. I wouldn't recommend this book, but I wouldn't necessarily ask you to avoid it.

Pros: The writer's style fits well with the period of time in which the narrative takes place. The reader is transported to the time and place of the narrative.

Cons: Shallow, insensitive, unthinking individuals may find the narrative boring.
