The mummified arm of St. Aldhelm is stolen from a cathedral in England and turns up in Paris, where it passes from pious to treacherous hands by means of murder most foul. Against a background of greedy nobles, family feuds, and religious persecution, Catherine LeVandeur searches for a killer, and a relic which threatens the fragile detente between the Christians and Jews in 12th-century Paris.
